Sang Kee Paik: August 21,1929 - July 12, 2009
Dr. Sang Kee Paik passed away peacefully on July 12, 2009 at his daughter's home in Inverness, Illinois following a long battle with cancer. In his final days and at his passing he was surrounded by family and friends and is survived by his son, Peter Paik (Colleen), his daughter, Mia (Myung) Scheid and grandchildren Cassi, Danielle, Ray and Hailey. Dr. Paik was 80 years old.

Another Year
Seems impossible that it has been two years already since the passing of our beloved instructor, father, mentor and friend. Please take another moment to reflect and respect.

One Year
Today is the first anniversary of Dr. Paik's passing. I spent time thinking about him and his family over the weekend. Spent an equal time thinking about the many lessons he taught and how important my time with him was.

Anniversary
This is really another "no news" update, but, maybe it will spark some thoughts and comments.
Those of us watching the calendar note that the first anniversary of Dr. Paik's passing is rapidly approaching. Many of us had thought, when we gathered at Dr. Paik's memorial service, that we might try and organize some sort of reunion. Its probably already too late to get something together for July 10 or 11; but, its not to late to get something on for late July or August.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, they ought properly to go to Peter or Mia first. If any arrive here, I'll forward them.
Thank you.

"No News" Update
Just a note to let you all know that as the new year begins, I find that often my thoughts include Dr. Paik and family.
There is an effort underway for a reunion of sorts. More on that as it develops. Probably later in the Spring when the weather turns nicer.

Brief Notes on the Memorial Service
Grandmaster Paik's memorial service was very nice. Turnout was very good. Peter, Mia and a number of friends and students offered some lovely remembrances of Dr. Paik. It was, needless to say, a bittersweet experience.
There was a luncheon following the ceremony. It was great to have a chance to see so many students and friends connect and tell (and re-tell) some great "back-in-the-day" stories.
Thank you, to all who attended the service yesterday. Your presence was warmly appreciated.
Thank you too, to all who could not attend but were there in spirit. There was a lot of "good energy" in the room yesterday and I attribute that in part to a lot of friends sending positive thoughts in Grandmaster Paik's direction.
